The 2008 S.A.S.V.E.P.M Congress

The theme of the Congress was "emerging and re-emerging diseases" and we were privileged to have Professor Barry Schoub as our plenary speaker and Dr Peter Roeder as our Continuing Education (CE) presenter.

The congress was a great success. We had a 50% increase in the number of delegates registered over last year's very successful event in Cape Town which bodes well for the future of epidemiology in Southern Africa.

Dr Peter Roeder's CE sessions were very well received and it was a privilege to be able to learn from his vast experience and knowledge of a wide range of disease conditions.
